Listening - the most underrated skill
How listening makes you money
On fiverr today,
I’m looking for someone to organically grow my instagram account,
So i copy the below message and send it to around 10 sellers, who all say they can help build instagram accounts
This is the message i sent:
I’m very specific with what i want, because I haven’t got time to go back and forth I want to close this in 2 messages
I just need to know if its possible and how much
Below is the responses I got, can you guess which one I went with??
If you guessed the last one. Congratulations.
Like me, you are able to notice someone that is willing to answer the question of a potential client,
I wanted to 1. Know if its was possible 2. Know how much. She gave me those answers.
I learned a long time ago, while building my first company,
The sales technique of listening,
We’ve all heard; 2 ears 1 mouth, use it in that order,
Yet i come across countless ‘sellers’ who insist on talking shit,
About stuff that has no relevance to what the potential customer is saying,
Listen…
Really listen…
If someone is saying they want XYZ and you can provide XYZ then theres little point in talking about ABC or 123,
Just give them the XYZ,
I covered this in one of my previous emails,
The world is changing from that build rapport sales stuff,
People want a quick fix,
They want the solution now,
And if you can give them exactly what they want,
Then offer it to them as plain as day,
The only exception to this is, when a potential customer doesn’t know what they want exactly,
Then you’ll need to ask some specific questions to get some specific answers so you can provide exactly what THEY WANT,
Needless to say, from the sellers above, the last screenshot woman,
She’s now working on my account and will prob be my instagram manager from here on out,
Just because she read what i needed (she listened)
And gave me the answers I needed to see.
