I just LOST $15,000

Tips on dealing with a crisis

So I just lost around $15,000,

A lot more tbh,

But we’ll call round it down to 15,

I’m not going to say what it is,

You’ll have to take my word on this,

Lets just call it ‘ting’ for the sake of this newsletter,,

But I will give you the details of how i dealt with this mini crisis so you can use these tips for when you deal with one,

Because the chances are, if you’re taking risks and growing,

You’ll get a mini crisis,

Here’s what happened,

Its 10am last friday, morning,

I check my ting,

It says it’s gone,

Wtf,

I check again,

I refresh,

I double check my email, log in, details,

Refresh again,

Close it down,

Log in again,

No, It’s definitely gone,

Ohhhhhh shit,

I feel sick,

Then I start to think,

What actually happened here,

I’m angry at what has happened,

Especially as it could’ve have been EASILY avoided,

I’m really pissed,

When the reality of what has happened has settled,

I feel down,

Almost depressed,

Then my training kicks in,

Lets solve this problem,

TIP ONE:

Whenever you go through a crisis or get real bad news you’ll go through stages like this, usually in this order too:

  1. Denial - you’ll be like, na can’t be happening to me, I’ve been a good guy, i donate to charity, i don’t curse, i go to church, this isn’t happening to me, no way

  2. Anger - muverfker! How did this happen! It’s his fault, their fault, everyone’s fault, you’ll blame the world

  3. Sadness - You’ll wanna cry (lol) sorry made me laugh. But you will definitely feel sad.

  4. Take responsibility

  5. Solution - after all of the above you’ll look for solutions.

  6. Take action - do something to better the situation

NOW, its important to realise that MOST people,

Get stuck at 1, 2 or 3 for a VERY long time,

Shit, I bet some people are walking around sad (number 3) after something bad that happened years ago,

And you know this is true,

TIP TWO:

THE SKILL OF A TRAINED HIGH PERFORMER IS TO GET FROM NUMBER ONE TO NUMBER 6 AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE,

Back to my story,

I took LESS THAN A MINUTE to do this,

I went from denial right through anger, sadness to taking responsibility and looking for a solution in less than a minute,

I’ve had many a crisis in my life,

And every one I’ve analysed the shit out of,

So I can improve myself for the next one (Kaizen)

I’ve trained my mind,

To jump straight to SOLUTION and taking action,

So fast I don’t have much time to stick around at being angry or sad,

TIP THREE:

Leave your emotions out of it,

Analyse and strategise like a robot.

And that’s what I did,

I went straight into problem solving mode,

And what I did was,

Locked myself in my office/gym room,

With a mission to better this situation asap,

I Wrote some ideas,

Did some push ups,

Wrote some more ideas,

Did some squats,

Researched and wrote some more,

Did some shadow boxing,

WROTE OUT THE WORST CASE SCENARIO,

TIP FOUR:

WRITE THE WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN,

Why do you do this?

3 reasons:

  1. The worst maybe still to come - in fact, one detail I missed out above is that i lost $10k worth of ting first then $5k after. Worse was still to come for me. And it could still get even more worse.

  2. When you know the worst case scenario you can act accordingly to stop any further ‘bleeding’

  3. You’ll be strangely at peace once you know the worst that can happen, because the chances are you won’t die and anything above not dying is pretty good right?

TIP FIVE:

Don’t sit down for too long,

Keep moving,

Do something,

Hence why I was doing push ups and squats etc,

When your body is moving and feeling strong,

Your mind is too,

Lemme repeat that, I need to emphasise,

WHEN YOUR BODY IS FEELING STRONG, YOUR MIND WILL TOO,

Just in case you’re thinking of falling into any state of depression,

Get on with a workout instead,

BACK TO MY STORY,

So i’m pacing around my gym room/office,

I’ve got my worst case scenario written down,

It’s pretty damn bad,

We’re talking 6 figures in losses,

Now I work back from there,

What can I do now to claw my way back if this does happen,

And there is ALWAYS a solution,

I text a few people,

I look up a few ideas,

And in no time, (around 6 hours i think)

I’ve picked the best course of action,

And I’ve already started on it,

TIP SIX:

Take action,

Do something, anything to help better the situation,

Something I’ve learned from my crisis’

Sometimes they’re not as bad as YOU think,

And once you start taking action,

The crisis (in your mind at-least) shrinks a bit with every bit of action you take,

I came out of my room,

Feeling a lot better than when I went in,

I went in, in full problem solving war mode,

No food, barely any water, some coffee,

I had a sole mission to create solution to my crisis,

And I had succeeded,

A little win for me,

I could have dinner in peace,

TIP SEVEN:

When god wants to give you a gift he wraps it in a problem

And what do you know,

From this crisis, this problem,

I’ve uncovered an opportunity that can, not only, make me back my 15k,

But give me a new mission to work towards and creating a winning scenario for me and the people around me,

I’m actually pretty excited right now,

Remember, the next time you’re hit with a crisis or real bad news:

Get from here:

  1. Denial ←

  2. Anger

  3. Sadness

  4. Take responsibility

  5. Solution

  6. Take Action ← to here AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE

That’s the sign of a high performer,

Thats the sign of a true mental warrior,

Keep improving (Kaizen)
